Port of Seattle Supervisor, Pier 69 Facilities in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

As a Supervisor, Pier 69 Facilities, you will support the department mission by assuring the effective delivery of various operational and maintenance support services in an active, hands-on manner.

  • You will hire, coach, mentor, and train direct report staff, while providing continuous performance management, and conduct employee performance evaluations

  • You will assist in the development of communication plans and processes for both internal and external stakeholders in support of projects and change initiatives.

  • You will assist management with the acquisition, installation, modification, and disposition of building systems, structural elements, interior elements, exterior elements, and grounds elements.

  • You will monitor the performance of facility systems and equipment, e.g., temperature control, lighting, furnishings, etc.

  • You will supervise the production of Waterfront ID badges.

  • You will define, program, and plan projects: purpose, scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder requirements.

  • You will create and manage project workflow and assign project tasks. You will create, monitor, and make work plans that include milestones, tasks, and assignments that align with the project scope.

  • You will participate in the development and maintenance of department contingency planning and in the development, maintenance, and exercise of building evacuation plans and other emergency preparedness exercises.

  • You will participate in the development and monitoring of department operations, maintenance, and capital improvement budgets.

  • You will operate and maintain building systems effectively and efficiently to limit consumption of electricity and water.

  • You will also supervise the facility waste management program to minimize the amount of trash sent to landfills.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have three (3) years of facilities management experience, to include one (1) year of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.

  • Desired – We hope you have a Facility Management Professional (FMP) Certification.

  • Efficient Communicator – You possess effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills, using concise, organized, and clear communication with internal and external customers. You can analyze and synthesize information from a variety of sources and communicate key concepts simply and effectively.

  • Technically Skilled – You have proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity with Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software, and with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software. You also have familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) software.

  • Highly Organized - You are skilled at developing, managing, and administering small projects and developing and executing projects on time, within budget, and within the identified scope.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including evenings.

  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment. There may be an opportunity to work remotely, at Management’s Discretion.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.

  • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment.
